My second Emerson. The first is a hand ground Karambit prototype, by Ernie himself (verified) satin blade, no serial #, which I carry once in a while. The CQC-6 will be my daily now. (currently an elischewitz)

Should I lock it away in the knife safe??? I kinda like carrying my pieces.

Motorradguy;)

Id have to say that if its a prototype and has no S/N I put it in the safe...you have a new, less "special" knife to use daily..

a CQC6 is worth more than any kerambit prototype, all '6s are custom, handground by ernie, and are the most popular of all the customs he makes, i looked for a '6 for 3 years before i found one for less than $1500, i paid $1200 and thought it a deal. i have seen '6s go for $2K on ebay, FWIW.

that said i carry my '6 all the time, and my CQC8 too, i try and not use them for heavy stuff, my '8 has a zero bevel grind blade anyway so its not really for utility, the '6 really would be fine for that though.

i would carry it, a used emerson cutom is still worth good $$.

I was offered $750 for the Karambit at the NYC show. No sale. Ernie made 3 of them prior to production (so I'm told by Emerson Knives). I'' post some pics of it. BTW, yeah... I paid dearly for the 6 But, the way i see it, they come around only once in a while..

I carry my 6 a lot and have used it as a utility. Still going strong and as good as ever.
