Are the new CQC-7 blade widths, not as wide as the older "7s", or is it just me? The HD-7 has a slightly wider blade. At least mine does.

I think you could be right,

My 12s blade is also slightly fatter than my regular 7

The 12 is satin and the 7 is black so im not sure if that will make a difference or not.

Haze---I noticed this when I was looking at some CQC-7s recently. My 2002 CQC-7 blade is as wide as my HD-7. Hmm? Or as they say; What's up with that?!

YA-YA---Width. I actually sent a 7 back to Emerson and asked them for a CQC-7 with a wider blade. Howz that for OCD??!! :O
The blade width on my HD is an 1 1/16.

The HDs are wider, my regular 7 is only just over 15/16 or 24mm at the thumb disc on my calipers.

My HD-7 is back in Scotland so I cant actually measure the blade on that one obviously :p

The CQC-7s look weird to me now, with the narrow blade. Or maybe, I just like the looks of the HD more!

I might give the mini-7 a try if I have sufficient fund.

*sighs and turns head "accidentally" in Lycosa's Direktion* Finally giving in after all the bugging...

Mini-Me, Mini-7...

An alternative for 14 that suits me better...

Tom Krein Grind. Iron of Man, Tom put his famous re-grind on my HD-7. It is my Sharpest folder. It is a zero-grind slicer!! You need a TKG on one of your folders!

Problemo in Europe. Shipment... Besides that, I have the nasty tendence to abuse my blades, not a good idea with a "lesser"(thinner, thus more fragile) blade. 8, 12, 15 are other options. Gonna be my own X'mas gift like the Commie :( Planned to get another EKI much ealier, but too much CLBs... and in a few weeks (2/3) this sucker http://www.hillknives.com/HillWebsite/Menu/New-commando-dagger.htm

not enough moolah!!!

not enough moolah!!!

That is no excuse :D

You can just send the blade to Tom and its really not expensive either.
My blade was sent from Taiwan so its not an issue being out of the US.

I had a mini-7 done by him and the blade is really not a delicate as you might think.
Il be sending him a few more blades real soon.

the customs (the ones i have seen anyway ie CQC7,8,12&13) have a wider blade than the productions, though they follow the same contours and such almost exactly.

dont know about the new '7s i havent seen one yet.
