Im about to buy a cqc-7, but ive been seeing different locking liner thicknesses among pictures ive seen online. Can anyone confirm if the liners are different depending on the mfg year? And where can i get one thats sure to have a thick liner?

If you want the thickest, get a 2015 or more recent. There should be no year markings on the blade. Older ones will have thinner liners on the nonlockside or both dependent on age/generation. I believe the current is 4th gen which has stand-offs vs a G10 backspacer.

The Emerson's I've noticed dated before 2007 and some 2007 have duel titanium liners, both on the thinner side. 2010 through 2012 have a thicker liner on the lock side and then a thinner stainless liner on the non locking size. The liner on the locking size is thicker on models within this year then on the older ones with the duel ti liners. The newest ones seem to have identical thickness in liners with titanium locking side and stainless non locking size, however not as think as the ones made in the years stated.

If you want the thickest regular production liner lock and don't care that the opposite side is thinner, search for an Emerson with the year 2010-2011.

Pictured here for reference is a 2010 Roadhouse. See thicker liner lock with opposite thinner stainless steel liner. You can notice the linerlock is about half the blade thickness if not a bit more.

I personally prefer this set up on the regular Emerson production models.
Hope this helps.
