CQC-7 owners would you do any thing to modify your Seven to make it better?

I keep saying to myself buy a Seven, but just can't pull the trigger.

No I am not talking about a Mini, or Super, a Black Left Handed Sever.

I made mine a scandi grind since the previous owner fudged the edge something hard. No looking back cause I love it and honestly wouldn't mind it as an option on future blades.

As Lycosa and Pockets said it is pretty much perfect from Emerson but in my case I worked with what I had since I didnt want to pay to have it re-bladed!

I'd chop my wave and maybe add serrations. I've owned 4 and currently own 2, so I obviously like them how they come though...LOL

Pardon my ignorance, but could someone school me on the difference between a 7 and an HD-7?

I was just looking it up and the handle's contours are slightly different than the regular 7. Looks perfect.

If anything, I would thin the scales ever so slightly. The 7 is a great design, definitely one of Emerson's best. But I couldn't help but feel that it was boxy in-hand.

To be completely honest, I think the Commanders and CQC-8s have superior ergos. That's just me.

Good eye, 380.
The HD7 has a different handle than the CQC7 and a slightly wider blade.
It's one of the finest folders out there.

I completely agree with that. If you'll notice, the back end of the 7 has a nice curve to it, then the front (where the liner lock is) is a bit straighter. This makes it feel boxy. Just give that a nice sexy curve (like the HD) and you'll have a perfect knife.

Thanks Rolf, I like me Emersons and try to keep up with them.

It's funny, my CQC-7V with the tan handles actually has thicker scales than my regular CQC-7 & I actually prefer that.

The tan G-10 is slightly thicker but has a completely different scale pattern than the regular G-10 models (it is the same on my Desert Roadhouse) and I like it a lot.

Very true, John.
Thanks to Aaron, I have an Afghan Tan CQC7 with a black blade, no wave.
You are welcome, 380.

The 7 doesn't feel boxy to me, I really like the ergos as is. But admittedly I have only owned a couple of other models, the A-100 and a cqc-16, so I don't have a great sample size to draw experience from :).

I have read before that some people would like the grind reversed, having the blade ground on the non "presentation" side for right handed users. It might look goofy but seems more logical to me.
