Cqc-7 too short for serrations..?

Hello everyone

I'm a new member, but I've been browsing these forums for at least a year, reading and wishing and wanting. But the time has finally come where I can afford my first emerson!!

Unfortunately I'm in Britain, so supply is very limited. I have my sights set on a cqc-7 but the only one I can find comes with serrations. And looking at the blade length, it seems like serrations might be wasting too much room..? Is this the case? Unfortunately I can't go handle it before purchase to see, it's an online only retailer.

I'm not averse to serrations, (my griptilian is half serr) as a matter of fact I hope to join the military and wanted this to be my service knife (yes I have a multitool as well haha) and I think serrations may come in handy at some points.

Anyway I just wanted some first hand options on those of you who have cqc-7 serrations. Are they taking up too much room on such a small blade?
All help is appreciated!

P.s. This sub forum is amazing, I've seen sooo many threads where you guys all give great advice and help to each other. Here's hoping to join the club!

Hey. I say it's up to you. You already have a knife with serration so you know what to expect. The serrations on a CQC-7 are about 50% of the belly's of cutting edge. You then have the 2 sharp points from the tanto to penetrate what your cutting with the plain edge so I see no great loss in having serrations. I haven't had any issues with mine being 50/50 though I prefer a plain edge. Emerson dragon teeth serrations do work well in comparison to other brands that I have tried for some reason and don't deform as much when I have accidentaly struck metal.

^yeah my griptilians teeth are all busted up from it's can opening days... You're definitely selling it to me though. Those teeth look rough as all hell.

Thanks for your opinions so far guys, I appreciate it. At this rate I won't be able to wait around for a plain edge.....

There are a lot of great deals to be had in the exchange and the cove over on the USN. Prices are way below MSRP and even online dealer pricing. I can even act as intermediary for you since you're not in the CONUS.

I really do appreciate the offer, and if I was in the states I'd have signed up as a gold member a loong time ago haha.
The thing is, living here in the uk, customs tends to seize all knives that are shipped over (especially "aggressive" ones like Emersons) The laws here are ridiculous. So as it is I have to stick to pretty much the one quality knife supplier who's based here.

And even he can't get models specifically shipped in for me

Yes, you have tight knife laws over there. Crazy, because a knife is a knife. imo.

Well apparently even just collecting them turns me into some kind of crazed would be murderer over here.... But that's a whole other story haha. Can't change the way it is, just got to work with it

Terrible knife laws won't keep that emerson out of my hands though!!

Yeah, UK knife laws are moronic. Kitchen knives and screwdrivers have been used in more stabbings and knife-related crimes than tactical-looking knives.

That said though, I've been able to ship knives over there without incident so far (knocks on wood).

It is just ridiculous. I can't even carry my multitool around, and when I took it over to my friends house last week to help build his shed, when I opened it he had a look on his face like I'd just fired a pistol in the air. Ridiculous

Anyway yeah I would try for shipping, but I can almost guarantee that because of emerson "aggressive" style they'll be confiscated. And at these prices I just can't afford to risk it. Oh well. Such is life haha

Get the serrations. Even if your blade is dull the serrations will help you get through tough material.
