CQC-7 wave

I just purchased a CQC-7 wave off of ebay for what seemed like a very good price, and just want to find out more about it. I paid 105, and it is apparently numbered 25. i have a friend with one, but no number. Is this from a first production run? how many were made? I may be interested in customizing it, any ideas on some not too expensive options? thanks for any info!!--masse

I don't know man, but if it is in perfect condition, looks like you saved yourself about $70.00

Luck abounds around here, you people, I need to rub the top of your heads or something.

yeah, i thought they were supposed to be a little more Don...but the seller did say NIB, #25...i think it had been up there for at least a full day, thats why i was really supprised nobody had taken advantage of the buy it now price of 105....well, lucky me!

Let me ask your opinion: Would it be worth keeping this knife in NIB condition since it has such a low number and i got it soo cheap? I really dont need to carry it but could i guess. I'll probobly keep it new for the time being at least, and continue carrying my commander. This will only be my 2nd Emerson, i'm very excited!

Any marketing concerns aside, I would imagine because some people think it is still a gimmick. And, you have to be careful not to tear certain dress pants with the Wave.

Also, the Wave is illegal in some places since it allows you to draw the folder into the locked position. At least it is illegal here in MA.

"Swiss Army" Commander! I KNOW those pesky tweezers are in there somewhere!

Or: WAVE? I DIDN'T know it had a WAVE on it, ossifer!

Ouch! I got serrated Number 093 for about 70 bucks more when the only place you could get them was from EKI!
Oh well, at least I got the green handles I wanted. (they swapped a set out to fill my order.)

I asked if I should keep mine NIB and everyone here said to use it and enjoy it, which I've done, so Don and John don't you DARE tell masse;
"Oh NO, don't USE it, it'll quadruple in value next month if you keep it NIB!"

Better be careful, John - you keep that SOCFK on the shelf, it'll get mad and start attacking your other knives. I carry my Green-T whenever I don't carry the Commander - it's a shaky truce, but the three of us can all live with it.

Basically, I look at knife laws the way I look at other antiquated laws. Even if the law in question is of "modern origin," the thinking behind it is antiquated at best and childish at the worst.

Does that make you an "Outlaw" if you think that way? I don't know. Maybe so. I know I am in good company though. Oral sex between man and woman is still technically illegal in many places. So the old argument about putting yourself "above the law" is nonsense, some laws are realized to be antiquated or stupid and thoroughly ignored by even those in Law Enforcement.

If you want to steal your neighbor's car, that's illegal and should be. What you are carrying in your pocket to cut things and defend yourself legally should never even be a concern.

The whole concept of Self-defense depends on it. It's a Civil Right and a basic Human Right as well.

Now, if you have a right to defend yourself and you are consistently denied the weapons to make that defense a success, does the right to Self-defense even exist anymore?

Whenever legalities of pocket knives comes up in these forums, we hear even from Police Officers, "Never tell a Cop that you are carrying it to defend yourself."

Why? That's every bit as legitimate as carrying it to open boxes or peel apples. Or is it?

If you say you carry it to open boxes at work, it's a tool. If you say you are carrying it to defend yourself, it's a weapon.

So?

If you have a right under the law to defend yourself, where is the controversy?

OK. First and foremost, I'm not a cop - never have been. So, PLEASE do not take what I'm about to say as inflammatory, or insulting. It's not meant to be - just what i "think", OK? When it comes to weapon vs. tool, I think most officers take the "law" into their own hands - i.e.: become the law, rather than an instrument of it. Yes, we have the right to defend ourselves. We ALSO have the right to keep and bear arms, but some will say that's as antequated as that stupid oral sex law (we have it here in Mass., too.) The basic argument is that that Amendment was put in place to assure that the people had a way to overthrow the government if necessary. Nowadays, most feel there isn't a need to, so why should citizens have weapons? Scary to think about - Big Brother scenario, in the worst. I can easily see America becoming a police state where we just go about our lives, and hope someone who is "allowed" to have a weapon intervenes in time to save us...

But I'm getting off the topic. The only point I'm trying to make is this: if an officer of the law stops "J.Q. Public", they can, at their own discretion, confiscate a knife. Out on the street, shouting "it's my RIGHT" don't mean jack ****. A cop won't listen, anyway. They want to get home to their families, so whatever keeps them safe is top priority. And I understand and endorse that COMPLETELY. I just wish that "normal" people like us (by that I mean non-criminal/gang member/junkie/parole violator/psycho/sociopath) pulled a little more weight/had a little more respect (for lack of a better term) from said officers. We're not out to stick someone, unless they attempt to do same to us. Unfortunately, a cop will listen to a lawyer more readily than me, and that's sad.

My .02, and my sincere apologies to all the cops on this forum, whom I consider my friends. I don't mean to offend - this is just how I "see" things...

Also, from what I've heard, most of the knives confiscated from criminals that were used as weapons are classified as junk. Such as sharpened sheet metal shanks, Pakistani knockoffs, cheap utility knives with disposable blades, and $2 kitchen knives, and cheap to moderately good fixed-blade military or hunting knives.

(not to say it hasn't or won't happen), but I have NEVER heard of a high-quality "tactical" folder being used in street attacks.

HEY SEE2...I'M A COP AND CAN UNDERSTAND YOUR POV. ON THE STREET WE TEND TO HAVE A "US AGAINST THEM" ATTITUDE. WHEN I STOP SOMEONE I USUALLY DON'T KNOW THEM FROM ADAM (LAW ABIDDING OR NOT). NO OFFENSE JUST REALITY.

HEY JAMES Y...CRUMBS KNOW ABOUT EDGE WEAPONS JUST LIKE ANY OF US. THEY LEARN IN PRISON, FROM MAGAZINES/VIDEOS. GRACIE JUJITSU IS THE RAGE HERE (ALTHOUGH A LOT OF THEM HAVE INSUFFICIENT TRAINING AND CAN'T FINISH THE TECHNIQUES). WHAT INFO YOU HAVE ACCESS TO THE CRIMINALS DO TOO. THE PRICE OF FREEDOM I GUESS...
MY BROTHER, A POLICE OFFICER TOO, TOOK A MICROTECH AUTO OFF A DRUG ADDICT SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. THEY GET GUNS AND KNIVES FROM BURGLARIZING THE HOMES OF LAW ABIDDING CITIZENS LIKE YOU. I RECENTLY STOPPED A BIKER W/ A CRKT BEAR CLAW, SIMILIAR TO A LA GRIFFE, CLIPPED TO HIS BELT, AND EMERSONS AND BENCHMADE KNIVES ARE COMMON THESE DAYS.

EVERYONES A CRIMINAL - "GUILT AND INNOCENCE IS A MATTER OF TIMING." SORRY, I TEND TO BE PESSIMISTIC ABOUT LIFE.

Do you apply that to you and your brothers as well? Or is that just for "us?"

You see, I love when Police complain about, "Us Vs. Them" attitudes and then some of them flaunt it.

Your breath stinks, eat a mint.
