CQC 7A (Mini or Full Size?)

I'm seriously considering a CQC 7A as my first Emerson knife. The question is which one? The full size is 4.65" folded while the mini is 4.25". The blade length on the full size is 3.3" and the mini is 2.9". I tend to carry smaller knives more frequently than larger ones just due to the convenience factor and the environment in which I work. However, the mini seems to be larger and heavier (3.75 oz) than other knives of similar blade length. The full size is only about 0.5 oz heavier and 0.4" longer. Which do you prefer? Which do you believe is handier and more useful for general cutting tasks and as a backup for self-defense. Thanks.

I own 2 of the Mini CQC-7A's, one with the satin hard chrome finish (to maximize the benign appearance) and one with the Black-T finish (which I prefer). Emerson designed this knife to maximize defensive capability while also maximizing the number of jurisdictions wherein it could be legally carried, and I bought them for exactly the same reason. They are the absolute best go-anywhere knives around.

The regular-size CQC-7A can't be criticized except that in this size range there may be better options available. I recenty ordered the Mini-Commander, which has the wave feature and a handle that will better guard against the hand slipping forward.

well, to answer your 'q, i would get the full size waved CQC7 myself, its not much bigger than a mini, but is(can be anyway) waved. i would want any EKI i got to be waved, its a really good feature imho

personally i would get a SOCFK for $139 from wilderness outfitters, i got a green G10 black combo edge tanto blade, and its 3X the knife a CQC7 is, imho, better grip, better workmanship, a tanto/or spearpoint whatever ya want, its waved as a std feature, and best of all only a little more $$ than the CQC - imho the SOCFK is so much better than the CQC, it would be a bargain at $200. i REALLY like mine, and have a CQC7, BM 975SBT, and a commander, and its head and shoulders above the previously listed knives - and its kinda a limited production, but steve has some in stock at the moment i think.

again, i cant stress enuff how much i like my SOCFK, and i'm "picky", and have a few knives to choose from, its my EDC for now. again, i really like the thing, one of the few knives i have bought and didnt have at least a twinge of disappointment upon opening the package, the SOCFK rocks, if ya cant get a custom emerson, this is a close 2nd imho, and is priced right too

SIFU1A: What is an SOFCK? I am not familiar with it. Who manufacturers it? I accessed wildernessoutfitters.com and it was not the correct website. I need your help in finding the correct site. Thanks.

the SOCFK is a limited production emerson, not in the EKI catalog, sorry i sent ya the wrong way, they are extreme outfitters, www.tacticaledge.com , phone 757-363-0909 or 910-355-2118 for info,it really is a helluva knife, dont feel bad i didnt know what they were 2 weeks ago lol, but glad i checked 'em out for sure, a lot better than, well, any EKI i own, i like better than my commander, which is saying something.....
