CQC-7B or Roadhouse?

I'm in the market for a new Emerson, and wanted to get some opinions here.

I've owned a few Emerson's in the past: CQC-7, CQC-15 and a Mini-Commander. The CQC-7B stonewash is one of the knives I wish I would have never sold.

That said, I've always liked the look of the Roadhouse.

For those that have both, or were looking at either of these, what do you think, and what made you go with whatever you chose?

Thanks in advance, and Merry Christmas to all!

For grunt work, CQC7. PS, btw.
For SD first, then grunt work, Roadhouse.

I agree ^, I also wish I never got rid of mine; but the roadhouse is such a sexy blade shape; I'd lean towards the roadhouse, it really reminds me of a chopped down Harley, I have one in a shopping cart but I haven't pulled the trigger on it; something else came up and got that instead, now I'm regretting it. I guess you can also use a mini roadhouse for grunt work. Can't go wrong either way in my opinion.
Let me know what you end up with, a new Emerson is always an exciting event. And Merry Christmas to you too!!

How big a blade you want. The super 7 blade is shorter than the standard roadhouse. I carry a super roadhouse and it works for me.

It's not so much the blade length, but the handle length. The Standard Roadhouse at just over 5" is as big as I would want to go.

I never felt like I needed more blade with the CQC7. I'm just trying to figure out if I go back to what I know, or try something I've wanted to try for a while?

There is a lnib CQC 7B on exchange could always grab that and pick up a roadhouse as well.

Thanks for the info. That one doesn't have the wave (needs to be a BW for me to grab it), but if it did, it would be gone as that would have made life very simple! LOL!!!

I think the mini roadhouse has a larger blade than the standard cqc7 and is under your 5" handle limit. If you like the 7 you'll love the roadhouse.

I don't think I'll go wrong either way. I feel the Mini-Roadhouse will be a touch too short. Even though the closed length is .10" shorter on the Mini, the fact there is actually less usable grip area due to the shape of the handle. In other words, if you look at the handle design, your finger can't go further than the REAR of the pivot on the MRH, where it can go all the way to the blade on the CQC7.

That said, the battle it still on between the regular Roadhouse and the CQC7. A good deal either way would take me off the fence in a hurry!

Thanks for all the input so far guys, I really appreciate it!

I have both and it really depends on if you like a big knife. Between the 2 I would get the roadhouse because I feel the ergonomics are better and the shape of the handle fits my hand better. The blade itself is awesome and there is just enough of a belly there to make nice sweeping cuts. Mine cuts through cardboard better and smoother than my 7. As a secondary choice though I would choose the 15 because there is a kind of guard at the back of the grip and it just holds my hand in place and I love the design of the blade itself.

Gotta have one waved cqc7b in your collection. Then try others. I currently have cqc7 bw bts, cqc 7a sfs, and a-100 sfs. I have had mini commander mini cqc7b, and horseman great knives, but prefer my current models.
