Im about to get one of these and im not very familiar with emerson. i been with spyderco for awhile now and havent stepped out. but once the CQC-7B caught my eye i just had to get one. what i wanted to know is a little bit info on it, lock strength , steel?, warranty service pretty good? . thanks :)

I've had one since '98 now and the though I don't use it much now it was my EDC for about a year. Initially I thought that chisel grind was 'evil' but once I got the hang of sharpening it I started to enjoy that grind.

Lock strength on my original 98 wasn't great and there was lots of bladeplay but I had it warrantied and not a problem since.

This may be due to the type of grind and tempering but I've had better luck with sharpening and maintenance of my 154CM blades than my ATS34...so the steel works great for me...

Warranty service is known to be excellent at EKI.

I worked for Sypderco and have a Emerson CQC in my pocket. What's that tell ya? Both are good stuff. I love the Emerson and have carried one off and on, since it was the 970 from Benchmade. If I had only gotten a custom when he was still making them:(

Thanx for the Feedback , at 1st i wasnt to sure about gettin one, someone told me the lock strength isnt that good , but from what everyone else says they sound pretty good, ill pick one up ;)
