A while back i was at the swap meet and came across this beater of a CQC 7. The price was right so I picked it up, It was a very well worn and probably had seen some hard use. I wasn't crazy about the serrations (not my thing) but it was too good to pass up.
As you can see it needed some love.
First up... New scales!
I had some leftover OD Green Micarta from a previous project.
Next the blade was glass bead blasted and acid dipped. Once it got dark enough I tumbled it for a bit with corse ceramic and a little Dawn dish soap.
I had been doing some two tone jobs so I decided to hand rub the flat on the presentation side.
The clip was polished to a high gloss and then sanded to give it a "Brushed" finish. I heat colored the clip and screws to match (semi match lol)
I was in it this far and I was getting close (very close ) to making something I'd be afraid to use. I went ahead and polished the liners, there were some deep scratches and dirt I just couldn't get off and seeing as I had some 9mm empties just laying around... this happened
The final touch was a 20 deg Wicked Edge blade reprofile. I layed the stone down just a few more degrees at the tip and wound up with a very dynamic looking leading Tanto edge. I didn't want to thin the tip out too much so it has a leading 20 degree bevel.
-Thanks for looking!
P.S. She's reel purdy but not too purdy to beat on
