I always wanted a Benchmade CQC-7. IDon't know why I just did. I settled for an Emerson CQC-7 when I couldn't seem to locate a BM. The Emerson didn't seem all that impressive but I will say that it was sharp and the very thin liner did lock it up tight. The screws lost their coating very fast and the knife just didn't seem like a $100. The screws were regular Phillips head instead of torx...

Were the Benchmade versions any better?

I've been thinking of getting a Stryker in M-2 steel. How does that model and steel stack up to the original BM?

What are your general impressions about the CQC-7 and the Stryker?

Thanks in advance.

I own a Benchmade CQC-7. Not bad although I have never handled an Emerson. It is amazingly sharp and I have never had a problem with the finish coming off of any of the hardware. I am thinking about getting rid of it and getting a Ritter. I have never used a Stryker.

The Stryker will cut straight..(non chisel ground) There is also a gradual taper on the main side of the tanto on the Stryker. The handle is less boxy too and has a distinct rounded tail

I have the 975 full size black blade. Great knife and it has the original SpecWar logo as this is one of the first BM's in ats34. I have carried this knife a bunch since recieving it a few yrs back and belive it or not the wear on the liner lock has not moved one iota and this knife is hands down the smoothest liner lock I have yet handle. Even better than my S2K which is saying something. Holds a great edge and the point pierces like no tomorrow. If you find one especially in ats34 buy it. They are worth it. keepem sharp

I would have to say between the stryker and cqc, i would pick the emerson cqc. My dad has a few of the BM emersons and have an emerson CQC and I think that they are equally great knives. I like the fact that the strictly emerson ones are tip up carry. I am still looking to get a BM Emerson of my own just for collecting.
