Cqc-7v

And here I thought this was going to be another great write up...JK. I think the 7V is a great knife as I had one for a while. Certainly like it more than the 7B but that's me.

I have several 7s: 7A, 7B SFS, 7BW BT, had a 7BW BTS.....but not a 7V yet. It's on my to-buy list after the Big Bulldog, ETAK-B, and Bullnose Karambit.

Used mine today to carve out some odd shaped ends building columns out of pine board. Also did some prying to break off some pieces the chop saw didnt get all the way through to speed things up. Not the hardest ive ever used it but a decent workout. No issues as would be expected, edge still sharp. It has quickly become one of my favorite Emersons.

Yea I did this tongue in cheek.:D
Might do a more detailed review in the future, but I was not that motivated this morning. I think I covered the basics though.

I want to get a mini commander. I've been leaning toward sub 3.5" knives lately. I like knives I can be able to travel with, to other states. So most states allow sub 3.5. Colorado is a big one I want to visit soon. I'd like to take a knife I am familiar with and love, so the regular 7 was perfect for me to start carrying and familiarizing myself with. Can't wait for it to come in.

How do you like the V grind compared to a chisel grind.

Its like a completely different knife....i think it slices beter, sharpens a little easier, cuts more evenly....it may be all in my head, but what i guess im trying to say is i like it more. I had a few mini 7s , serrated and non and both were chisel grind and i just couldnt get used to it. I gave the 7v a shot and it has been in my pocket since the day i got it, has some miles on it now. Very smooth, nicely centered, great look and changed my mind about emersons in general. Now im trying to figure out what my next one will be.

Love me my Emersons but have to say, the chisel grinds get old after a while as they detract from the overall useful of the knife - at least for my uses and purposes. The fact that the grind is on the left side of the blade only makes things worse for us right handers as it pushes the waste towards the media we would be trying to separate the cut piece from.

All that said, I carry and use Emersons more than anything else, really like the products, the company and the man (Mary too!) and like to connect with a support a company like EKI. Oh, and THE WAVE!!!

I wish that my entire Emerson collection was V-grind, again, for my uses and purposes but I like them all nonetheless.

Zero regrind. Exercise extreme caution.
