Hay,

Im am looking to buy a waved CQC-8 SF. I already have a non waved BT 8 but my question(s) is this :

On my non waved 8 there is a swedge out the back of the blade at the tip, the waved versions appear not have this ?

is this the case ?

I havent actually handled the waved version for my self so i am only going by pictures.
I like the blade profile on my non waved version so much i feel it would be a permanant niggle if the waved one was not the same shape.

Thanks

Thanks for the info !

Thats a shame, but I might just need to get a waved one any way, the 8's are great knives !!!

IIRC some of the very early ones did have the swedge, i might be wrong though.

good luck, '8s are great knives i have 3 lol.

I EDC a waved CQC-8 and sadly there is no swedge. I really like the swedge as well but it is a great knife anyway.

you could always grind one on if you wanted to . just be reeeeeallllly careful so you dont booger it up!

thanks again guys.

I have had a look/ask about and it seems swedged waved 8s are about as common as chicken lips, if its not a custom piece.

i could grind a swedge on it but i would need to take the coating off to make it look uniform all over and i'd have to do it cold on a wet wheel, it might be easier to just live with it being a non swedger !!!

All the original Surefire set ones are swedged.

There was, IIRC, a short non-SF interstitial run that was also swedged, from the leftover SF parts.

The waved ones all should have no swedge.

If you don't mind getting rid of the coating (and turning it either beadblasted or satinized) you could have any competent modder grind a swedge in.

Im actually a partime knife maker and modder my self, but its a pain working on hardned blades, you need to do it cold and so slow or you just draw the temper on the blade.

Not what you want at all !!!

I actually have the waved one now, it came yesteday and its not as bad as i though, its a really nice knife, so its all good !!!

Thanks again for the responses.
