hi,
just wondering which of these knives (cqc8 commander specwar b) is most useful for EDC? which has the best lockup? i'm thinking of getting one of these, but i have a hard time deciding which one.
thnx.

All three are good knives. Which is the best EDC, that depends on your needs. Only you can decide that. I`ve carried all three at one time or another but the Banana is my favorite and is my EDC most of the time.

i would rate them as follows,

1) '8

2) commander

3) spec war

and yes i have had all 3 of them, have 2 '8s FWIW. of all the EKI's the spec war is my least favorite followed by the commander lol. not that there is anything really wrong with them just prefer other EKI's to those 2.

I just picked up the CQC 8 Surefire limited whatever. I just wanted the C2 light but the price for both was just a little more than for the knife alone. Personally, I find it to be a biiiig knife and it makes me a tab bit concerned with conflicts with the local constables. In Pennsylvania my Glock is covered by my CFP (it isn't a conceal weapons permit just firearms). Personally I am thinking about either trading or selling it, but I am concerned about the value if I break the set.

(I may turn this into a separate thread)

I think its been pretty much covered. Personally, I think the best EDC EKI has got to be the CQC10, but that's me. Of the three you mentioned, I'd go with the '8 since it has the best overall utility shape. From aesthetics, I like the Commander, and I miss my mini-comm. I own and sometimes EDC a Specwar B, but I do so for the tip strength.

Oh, and SalemPoor, the value of that Surfire 8 is crap if you break the set. First, there are the completist people who aren't going to like not having the numbered light. Second, since the '8 is now available with the wave, that particular version of the knife has become VERY popular, and much more so than the non-wave version. Third, the value of the set (unopened) hasn't really held up (compared to what they were retail) that well, so USED you're looking to take a big hit. IMHO, as long as you're not doing something to jeopardize your CFP you should be fine with the CQC8.

You would think! Anyway, I'm not a collector of anything, since I like to play with everything I buy so holding value is never a big deal. Plus, I paid way below retail.

PS - yeah the non-waveness was a bummer.

blade shape , ergonomics and last but not least , the wave . my only gripe is that it is a little big . its ahandful of knife ill say .
