I see people talking about CQC6, 8, 9...
I have a 7 and I'm just curious where these other model numbers are available. What are the differences?

Thank you

Ors, The CQC 6,8 &9 are all customs made by Ernest Emerson, the owner of Emerson Knives Inc. Check out The post titled:Emerson Custom Count/Gallery/Glossary a few posts down for pics and info.

Ors, BH is correct.

Among Mr. Emerson's custom knives are the CQC series. There is a CQC5, CQC6, CQC7, CQC8 and a CQC9.

Most people are familiar with the Benchmade CQC7 and the EKI CQC7A and CQC7B. These are production versions of the custom CQC7. Currently there is no production versions of the 5, 6, 8 or 9.

Pictures of the customs can be found in the Gallery as BH stated.

Ors, in case you care:

The CQC6 (Close Quarter Combat #6) came first. It was named #6 because Ernie's Vipers were numbered 1-5.
I believe the CQC7 (handmade) came next. The handle is different from the CQC6. This knife became quite popular.
The CQC5 was so named because it is a smaller version of the CQC6.
The CQC7 was turned into a production (mass-produced) knife. It was made by Benchmade for a time. It is currently made by Emerson.
Ernie still makes the custom version of the CQC7
The CQC8 is an awesome knife, also known as the "Banana". It is rather different from the 6 and 7. The handle is more like the commander
The CQC9 is also known is as the "Eagle". I believe it was designed for law enforcement "when a tool must also function as a weapon". It is very different from the others

Emerson is now coming out with a new prodcution model, the mini CQC7, to add more peas to the pod.

If any of this information is not correct, I hope Derek or John will bring it to our attention.
