CQC vs BREACHING

Im just curious as to what others think.

Are "tactical" tomahawks a better choice for BREACHING (pry bar ends, more of a dull edge), or better for CQC/CQB i.e more of a fighting tool (multiple sharp edges, sharpened spike)?

I think it depends on which model hawk your looking at. some are built fighters and some are meant for breaching, some are built with both in mind.

If you are looking for one for CQB I would go for breaching and destruction. If your doing it right a tomahawk would be third for fighting after a rifle, or shotgun, then a pistol. And I would bet money if you hit them with a "breaching tomahawk" they won't want care that its not a fighting tomahawk! More than likely you'll be breaking locks and door handles more than chopping at people. Just my opinion!

I'm speaking from experience a hawk or breaching hawk is not the way to go. The blade or spike offers to many ways for you or others to get hurt for 1. They are much slower than a sledge or a ram or shotgun with proper loads to get you through a door quickly and the last thing you want is to be hacking at a door and have rounds start coming your way through that door. I love hawks buy for solid doors and other obsticals they just won't cut it now a fireman's axe works better but in reality in combat or what your local pd had is entry tools that keep the operators safe and their team safe since most entry tools are dropped or tossed out of the way as soon as the door flys open. But to each there own

Are vehicles good for driving fast or hauling heavy loads? Depends on what you're sitting in. :)

So, you looking at a Corvette or a Peterbilt?

Lol..Storm Crow I'm not exactly sure what you mean as I'm a little slow since I got my bell rung overseas but I still thought your post was funny and I love your work. One day when I recuperate from my injuries and have more money your hawks are 1st on my list but it maybe awhile I've been on bed rest for almost 2year now and probably got atleast 1-2 more left. But I just love your work!

Heh, no analogy is perfect. :D Just meaning that even though both may fall under the category of "tactical tomahawk", CQC and breaching have different design considerations so they will be built differently. Just like a Corvette would be great for drag racing, but a Peterbilt is going to be better at hauling an oversized excavator to a construction site. Both are vehicles, but aimed at completely different needs and built quite a bit differently from each other.

Then you have the in-betweens. Like a half-ton pickup that can drive at over 100 mph but still pull a trailer full of firewood (not necessarily at the same time). I kind of feel like that's where my 'hawks fall; less specialized and more generalized.

Get better, buddy. :)

Well if this means anything at all outta all the hawks I've used and seen your hawk would be my 1st choice for my entry set. I also should clarify that the tools I mentioned are heavy and really only have 1 use, and I find hawks more useful in housing Ect interiors.
