Hey guys, quick question. If any of you have a cqc11, could you take a look at it for me and let me know....

I just got one, and the lockup is really early on the blade, with a slight amount of vertical bladeplay. I think it will wo away with more use once it starts to break in a little bit.... right?

My real question is that when the blade is closed, looking at the liner lock side, the liner lock itself bows out toward the blade. Like, when the blade is closed, the liner lock doesnt sit flush with the g10 about halfway down, for a good inch. Are all cqc11s like this? Only reason for it to me would be that it is there to sit the liner lock more centered on the blade with less of an angle, if that makes sense. thanks

The liner is sprung so that it will engage the lock face. The locking liner will always have a small gap of some
sort when it's bent back. It's basically the difference between the detent and the washer that creates the gap.

A few pics would help to see if you are experiencing anything out of the ordinary though. :)

Also, early lock up is a good thing but I would have a few concerns if you have play
in the blade. See how it seats in and see if the pivot tension helps with that at all.

thanks for your replies. The play I can tell, is from the liner lock physically bending a small amount when I apply force towards the liner lock. Im pretty sure thats not normal, however is is a very long liner lock, so i dont know.

I have "one or two" of the larger Emersons and they don't flex enough to show play in the blade.
It would be good to see a few pics if possible, that way we can see if the liner does look off. It dosn't sound quite right to me any way.

I am confused :)

I will try to get a pic up of mine for u to compare.

I am with Haze though, something sounds goofy. Unless the pivot is just loose and that is letting it move side to side. Does it have side to side play or up and down.

Working on a couple pics now.

Are you opening the knife too gently? Some LLs need a fairly smart opening (not necessarily a wrist flick, though) to open and lock fully. Being too gentle on some LLs, especially when they're new, can lead to what I think you're describing.

Here is the best I could get without a macro/micro lens:)

Hope they help

This knife functions perfectly. I am sure I have had it apart dozens of times and broken it in also.

Maybe just give your 11 a chance and use it for a while.

Can't be sure, but it looks like there is a lot of fuzz on your stop pin. If that's true, try cleaning the stop pin as debree in that area can keep the blade from fully locking.
