Does anyone have one of these. Looking at the numbers, it seems like it's a "lot of bang for the buck". 4.01 blade length for $180. That's about $50 less than the Super Commander. Am I failing to take something into consideration with this model?

Nope, you are not missing a thing. The CQC-11 is a fantastic folder with an excellent design, great balance and the sharpest edge in the business. Emersons cost a bit more, but are worth every cent you pay.

I was working through the Emerson catalogue and looked at the specs on this knife. It seems like of all the Emerson's, it would make an ideal SERE knife. I just haven't seen any mention of this knife by forum members.

I'll agree with you on the price point. I'd rather pay more for something that is manufactured correctly.

I think that the CQC-11 would make an outstanding SERE knife, especially with the BT coating.

i prefer the 11 to the commander series, im not a fan of recurves.

i had possession of a bolstered custom for a bit, its a great knife.

Looks like a longer version of the CQC10 with other smaller changes. I love my 10 just wish I got one without serrations.

No the 11 is a different animal to the 10. It is a serious brute of a knife. Very large. The SpecWar handle is the absolute shit, probably the finest of all Emerson handles (which is saying something).

But it is a handful of a knife. In fact, I personally believe it would have been better served in a fixed blade version.

If you like and function in an environment that permits large size knives, there's not much it can't do. However, bear in mind this is a grizzly of a folder (no pun intended). If the 11 appeals, also consider the CQC-8. It too has plenty of reach but its a tad smaller than the 11. No less practical and versatile though.

I've been jonesing for an 11 too. I would assume that it has a bit more tip strength than the 8, and less recurve than the commander, if we were comparing Emersons in that size range, FWIW.
