So who else around here has a CQC5 and what do you think of it?

I got my five about a year and a half ago, after about five years (worth the wait). My six is an early half moon, threaded bolster, etc. that I bought slightly used in 1994, if memory serves (just saw that you like Brends--I bought the six and a Brend/Whitewolf as a package deal), and is the "favorite" of my modest collection. I actually like the size of the five better for EDC, although because it's mint, I don't carry it. I like the narrower grind of my early six better than the broader grinds I'm seeing on the more recent fives and sixes, but all in all it would be hard not to like an Emerson handmade.
BTW, it appears our governments may be working together along with many others in sending our regards to someone from Afghanistan. Please urge folks over your way to take care, and many thanks.

Ed,

The CQC5 is my favorite knife. So much so that I bought two of them. Originally one to carry & the other to put away. Well guess what, I don't carry either of them. I put both of them away. Not too threatening looking. Kind of cute. It's a wee too small. For the time being, I carry a CQC6 as a daily. It's a little too big/heavy. I need something in between a CQC5 & CQC6. Hence, a Larry Chew Mini Spitfire. We'll see when I get it. Hope this helps.

Regards,

David

Ed:

I like them too. As a matter of fact I like them well enough that I also bought 2 of them.

I like the size of the 5 real well. Even better than the six. If I was inclined to carry a 6, I'd move on up to a 8! Especially that "waved 8" that's just sittin here waiting to get whipped out and wanting to cut something!

While I'm thinking about it I've got a photo of a couple of 8's that I think I'll look at on photopoint and post on here for your enjoyment in the next thread.

If you like CQC8's check this photo out!

For some reason I can't seem to get the photo to pop up automatically, but that might be better since it is a large photo and may take some time to load!

DON! You TEASE! You BASTID! Making me look at that! Now I'm sad! :D Damn... 4 8s. Lucky lucky lucky!

I like my five. It has kind of a weird grind, and its edge is very thin with a wicked zero grind. I carried it quite a bit when I was doing a lot of low profile corporate work. Now the 8's-these are my favorite Emersons. Hopefully I will see my waved one some day. I daily carried a satin CQC 8 for a few years tucked inside pants in the appendix position.
