I have two CQC 6's (Pics below) can anyone give me the history on blade shapes. The top is one made in 1998 and the one below is a few years old. The older one has a more pronounced point.

I am not an expert on these things but it seems that the older models have a slightly different blade shape as do these two.

Trader 1,

Blade geometry is a looong topic here at the Emerson forums. There was discussion of this same topic a few months back when I posted my observations concerning an older CQC-6 that I own. Check it out here: http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum16/HTML/000287.html
Hope that this helps

That's part of the beauty of owning a hand ground, custom knife. No two are exactly alike.

In my experience, when looking at a custom makers catalog, that catalog is a guideline, an approximation.

One well known knife maker I contacted recently for a catalog told me he didn't have catalogs. He found them too binding. Some customers want to see a picture in a catalog and get that exact knife, "custom" made for them. Instead he preferred generalizations that allowed him some creativity.

How many times have you seen, right here in the Emerson Forum, people complaining that the knife they purchased doesn't exactly match a line drawing in a six year old catalog.

I personally like that my customs aren't exactly like everyone elses.
