I've been seeing a lot of posts about this knife but what is the manufacturer's name and what is the name of the knife??

CQC7 = Close Quarters Combat 7 It's made by Ernest Emerson custom and production, you can get one through http://www.1stopknifeshop.com or his production company's website is http://www.emersonknives.com There's also a forum here on bladeforums devoted to Emerson knives. If you get one, I'd recommend getting one with the "wave" option, also visit his website, go to the "Video Vault" and watch a demo of the wave. It's cool. It's my overall favorite knife.

Also check ebay for the BM version. They show up there occasionally at a not bad price. BM version I hear is good choice if you want one without paying the hefty price.

I miss Benchmade's CQC-7. I still prefer it over Emerson's production version, mainly because of Emerson Knives' QC issues.

I also prefer the BM 970. I have both that one and the Emerson version. It was BM's best seller at the time.

Jeff--This knife is purely for self defense. It is extremely "sheeple-unfriendly". An excellent example of one of Ernie Emerson's best pure combat designs. Take a look at it on Ernie's web page. If you don't have the URL, just search "Ernest Emerson" and it will come up.

When I think 'tactical knife', this one always pops in my head.

I got myself the BM version a while back. Drawing a visual comparison with the current Emersons I prefer my older BM.

tried to trade my emerson CQC7 straight up for a BM model w/no success a few weeks sgo - i agree the BM version is better imho - ya hear that emerson is so much better than BM, spyderco, etc - well a bud has a commander, and its ok, but i wasnt impressed at all w/mine(cqc7) - traded it for a spyderco numbered lum tanto Ti handle, even, and think i got a good deal, i certainly got a better knife - not to slam emersons....but imho there are better knives around for the $$ they charge, imho i repeat - i dont know, maybe mine was a lemon....
