CQC8 and others

I just got a CQC8 and a Super CQC8. I noticed that the cqc8 had a little blade play regardless of how much i tightened the pivot screw. If I pressed hard enough the blade would actually close so I sent it in. Now, since I was a little worried, I inspected my super cqc8 and noticed that the lock up was good, however, if enough pressure is applied side to side, there is very slight yet detectable movement. If I tighten the pivot screw, it will not do this, however, after a few openings, the screw loosens to where it wants to be and it happens again. Is this normal or should I send in the super cqc8 as well?

Basicly, does anyone know if a slight bit of blade play is acceptable when you push it side to side?

I just pulled my CQC-13 out of my pocket, opened it, and wiggled the blade from the tip. I get a little bit of "play" out of it. I think that's because of the lever effect on the pivot then. Try to wiggle from base of the blade next to the tang. If it has real play, it'll show there, without too bad of a lever effect. I consider my blade to have no play on it, too.

Ok, so I guess it's normal. I just don't want to be in a situation where the blade closes on me.

a very small amount of play might be ok but there shouldnt be much.

get the pivot adjusted correctly and apply either teflon tape or loctite to loc it, if ya dont its just gonna loosen up with use as you have seen.

i like the tape best, ya gotta get it CLEAN for loctite to loc (doesnt matter w/the tape) and its also easier to remove the screw if ya need to,

with the pivot adjusted correctly it should not have much play, if it does ya might have to send it to EKI, it should not have much at all. if it does have a lot the liner is messing up/not adjusted properly/somethings wrong and it could indeed fail ion ya with use.

hope this helps.

Just got the tape, and applied it. Now to see if it works. I hope I did it right.
