Ok well, I am going to be a few getting to this but I might as well put the start up showing the factory knife before. Consider this the thread starter but I do have several things ahead of it.

yep i confused myself. I have the cqc14 in my hand the cqc8 is the knife i sent to be frame locked lefty. :o:o:o sorry for the confusion.

Ok so now I'm confused. You sent the 8?

Man its the good thing I'm swimming in work. I need to change some things then.

Now that the Lava is done and the confusion is worked through I have made progress on this one.

Its still rough but so far the two new sides are cut out, the new contact has been done, all my holes short of the clip are drilled and counter sunk and counter bored and I am about ready now to mark my lock cut for the mill next. Then I'll thread the clip, trim it and we'll see where we are.

Ok one more down. Moving on to a CQC14 next. You guys are killin' me with these EKI knives.

Oh yeah. This one gained just a little weight with the conversion. It went up from 4.7 ounces when it got here to 5.2 ounces as it sits now.

Not bad I don't think. The G10 is black and tan and I used it because it kind of had a sort of camo thing going for it and I've never used it before. It actually had just arrived and I was anxious to play with it.

On lock reliefs. They both measure .065. It will go out to you in the morning sixstrings.

Thanks

Thanks. Some bad pics though. It was getting dark fast and I took those right before the sun went down with the last tiny bit of daylight left. Had it not been for the flash I don't think they'd been any good at all. The last one of the lock up was so dark I ended up having to just scan that shot when I got to the house. So anyway, pics never do them justice. You'll see it here soon.

Steve, just got the knife. Excellent work. I really like the G10 you used on it, it breaks away from that usual black every emerson has. I figured you would have stamped your name on the outside but i spotted it on the inside of the Ti. Nice touch:thumbup:

Yep. I most always stick my STR somewhere on the inside of the production ones I redo. I only sign my customs on the outside. I used to not sign anything at all but I do now on the conversions more for me than anyone else so that in the event years down the road after many brain farts more I know its one of mine even if I don't remember when I see it. Hey, gettin' old sucks! :D

I was hoping you liked it. I'm about done this CQC14 and will be moving on to a P SARK next and have a few more in the works I'm waiting to hear back on so as is typical for the last quarter I'm starting to see some increased work load. Seems to happen every year right before xmas season. Looks like you got it in at a good time.
