the liner lockup slips a little when pressure is applied to the spine of the blade' is this normal? it only does this when i apply a good amount of pressure but i still hav to wonder if it would hold up if or when i had to use it in such a way id like to keep my fingers any advice would be helpful

take the knife and open it then LIGHTLY wack the blade on the floor (carpet helps) and see if it slips then, if not its ok, if it does its not locking correctly & ya should send it in to EKI imho.

FWIW my '8 doesnt slip like that, but if ya can wack it like i said & it locks ok i would say its fine, if it bothers ya send it in & they will fix it.

thanks for the advice. i just got through beatn on it a little and it didnt really move much. i think itll hold , it just kinda made me nervous at first . thanks for the info.

Sometimes there is alittle bit of galling between the lock and blade. I use a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol to remove it.

I actually had the exact same problem recently with my 99 commander. I sent it back to the Emerson factory and in a week I had it back better than new. They even put new screws on it for me. If you aren't 100% about the lockup why even take a chance. That is one of the great things about Emersons, if in the rare event something doesn't work right, they fix it, no questions asked. They're great.......:)

the problem has pretty much resolved itself after a thorough cleaning . thanks anyway. is it normal for the stop pin to actually rotate ? same thing goes for my old spec-wars. when i shake the cqc8 you can actually hear it rattle a little bit. is this something to worry about?

i just got it back together a minute ago and everythings fine .i cleaned all the parts and lubed them up with a good synthetic lubricant. the action is so unbelieveably smooth now. and as for the stop pin? its a sollid peice of steel thats bomb-proof and aint going anywhere, its just how it sits in the liners is all.

glad you got it worked out....I like to disassemble mine every couple of months to clean and lube. You might want to use some blue(removeable) locktite on the pivot bolt just to keep things where you want them. Also I really like the copper lube that Emerson puts on at the factory. It makes the action like butter and probably lasts longer than anything else. The only place I know to get it is at topglock.com...if you do here is a discount code for 5% off FGJFGR32......take care
