CR Cordura sheath options

Does anyone know of anyone making a folding knife pouch similar to the original CR cordura belt sheaths that came with the early folders?
I'm looking for button closure and the same back as the originals, which make it a very low profile belt sheath.

I see a lot of "tactical" type sheaths but I don't want to mount it to molle webbing and I don't want the bulky molle webbing with velcro on the back even though it allows for horizontal belt carry. I just want simple unpadded cordura pouch like the original with a snap for my small Sebenza.

Here is the large I have so you can see the back and the simple I-Strapping and how thin it is overall.

If a velcro closure would be sufficient, AG Russell has some.
Low profile is also what I'm looking for, but without the snap lock.
hope this helps

I would also like to find a source for a sheath/pouch like these. I really prefer a snap over velcro, and the CRK versions had the back of the male half of the snap covered so that they didn't scratch the knife. I still use one with my small regular Sebenza that I've been carrying for approximately 15 years.

Would love to find a source for that original sheath, or a close copy. Maybe if enough of us chime in, CRK or a forum member with the right skills will make some...

I know what you mean. The original sheaths are tough to come buy. I have seen them sell for as much as $100 by themselves. The only sheath I have used besides a CRK sheath is one from Spec-Opps Brand. They make stuff that puts maxpedition to shame, plus its made in USA with a lifetime warranty, not Taiwan. But it does stick out a little more than this style of CRK sheath. It does have the "I" beam construction on the back though. Something to check out at least as it may suite your needs. It does have a velcro closure, but its long, so there is lots of it there to secure your large or small sebenza. I definitely give it :thumbup: as far as nylon sheaths go. I use them in hunting season as I want to make sure my sebenza is fully secured and just not clipped to my pocket.

I can't find mine as its probably with my other CRK collection.....lol. I think the one I have sitting here is maxpedition. Not sure as its unmarked. Its been awhile since I have used either of their sheaths.

I agree that Spec-Ops is the way to go for top quality. All of my field gear is Spec-Ops and it will be giving exceptional service long after I am gone.

The MaxPedition sheaths do fit the Large Sebenza very well and I use them too. They are more bulky than the old CRK cordura sheath however.

Hmm I have a bunch of Cordura (moto pants. I crashed) and snaps too with the tools to install them.

I am, however, lacking skill for sewing the stuff.

Btw, I wear all leather now. I guess if I were to crash a Sebenza I'd want the leather sheath, but since that is unlikely I'd like one of those old sheaths too.

:D

TAD Gear used to offer an awesome box construction cordura sheath with Velcro but they are discontinued. The Spec Ops offering is solid but I agree it adds bulk. I am eyeing the SOE multi tool sheath and might give it a shot at the title, it is offered with molle or belt loops, snap buckle or Velcro. http://www.originalsoegear.com/multitool.html
