I'm not sure how true this is, but I've heard that on occasion Chris Reeve makes custom knives with unique locks. Does anyone have any pictures of these? I've looked all over and can't seem to find any.

First time I heard this statement. Dont think its true IMO. Chris is known for the RIL lock.

I'm pretty sure you mean the early CR knives that were the precurser to the "intergal lock".

There was pics posted in the Spyderco forum of one that is owned by Sal.

I'll try and find the thread.

Well I knew about the precursor to the integral lock, and I've seen that. I was under the impression that from time to time Chris Reeve makes custom knives with different locks than the framelock. I'm not sure where I heard this from it was a little while ago, but it recently came back into my head, and as a big fan of CRK, I was really curious to see pictures.

I found where I originally heard about the custom knives...unfortunately it's not a very reputable source--it was wikipedia.
Early in Reeve’s career, he engaged heavily in making custom knives. Today, Reeve still enjoy making custom knives as time allows. These custom pieces are of his own design, although sometimes there is a cultural influence – often European or Japanese. Reeve’s custom knives include folding knives with uncommon locking mechanisms, daggers and other fixed blade knives of unique styling, and table cutlery.
The source about still making custom knives was from the 80s, which I didn't realize when I read this a few months ago.

Like any great designer, I am sure Chris has made and continues to make knives of various designs and locking mechanisms that we will never see. He is a genius !!!
