Hi - Got a Project 2 (had it a while). Great knife but actually I think it is too big for what I need. So which CR knife would you recommend for bushcraft/camp use and why. Needs to be strong, capable of being used to split logs, not too large etc. The clip point of the Proj 2 is so fine at the tip that it does bend easily so I am attracted to a spear point (Shadow IV?) What is the back of the spine like on the Shadow IV? Is it flat (like the Proj 2) right upto the point where the 'spear point'' starts to form? Any views on the Sable, Mountaineer or Mk 2? The Green Beret handle looks nice so how about that? Thanks a lot.

I had a green beret for a while (sold it argghh:grumpy: ) and I liked it very much. IMHO it's a great camp knife. I don't know much about the other CR knives. Hopefully others could help you along with the CR knife choice.

take care

Big Bird,
I think you should consider the Green Beret 7" or 5.5". they would make a fine camp knife (I have both sizes) but I feel that the best of the bunch would be the Neil Roberts Warrior with the 6" blade. I have 2 of the Neil Roberts, one for one of my edc fixed blades and one still New In The Box (NIB) that I will probably sell for what I have in it.

So many knives.....what to do, what to do??
Just to give you something to consider, here is a picture of both the Green Beret and the Neil Roberts Warrior:

The one on the left is the Green Beret 5.5" blade compared to the 6" blade of the Neil Roberts.

Thanks Ron - I like the look of the grips on the GB and NR, and 6 inches is a good length (!!!!!!!!!!!), I mean 7.5 inches on my Proj 2 is a little too long for campcraft-type use. I hadn't thought about the NR (maybe because it is getting a bit tactical looking to hang from your belt when putting up a tent on a camp site).

(BTW I never did receive a message from you re a tanto - still looking as well!)
