I have decided to get one of these knifes and l am trying to make up my mind between the two. I will be using it primarily as a hunting knife and if anyone has used either or both of these do you have any suggestions/comments? (l am not in a position to buy both at this time)

Thanks in advance for any information.

Rod--I have both and each has its advantages. The Ubejane is an excellent skinner and great for pelvis punching. The Sable is also a good skinner and probably a better all around blade shape. If I could have only one I'd opt for the Sable---unless you're going to be skinning a lot of large animals.

servtech, thanks for the response and l tend to agree that the Sable may be the one l should get.

I am a new member and just looked at some old posts and there was some discussion on hunting knifes which had good information on the OPR's.

Rod, I agree with Servtech except to say that I would get both of finances permit. Seriously though, while the Skinner may shine at, well, skinning ... much of what you use a hunting knife for is not skinning. Accordingly, the Sable is a very useful blade shape. For what little it may lack in skinning, compared to the skinner, it more than makes up for in its versatility.

Happy Hunting.

I like the Mountaineer I for hunting.
