Is the Chris Reeve's Sebenza a nice knife? Do you get it in serrated? So many styles, which one is right? Or stick with a Benchmade that is cheaper?

Chris Reeve makes a great knife. The small Sebenza suites me fine. Benchmades are less expensive but there is no comparison. The Sebenza is world's better. It will last your whole life. If you're into knives get the 'benza first and save yourself a lot of money, you will end up there anyway.

Better Yet - Go to Rolex website and ask If you should buy a Swatch.
Better comparision.

I also carry a small Sebenza since 1995. Born on July 18, 1995. It has been used and abused and NEVER failed me. IMHO it is the best EDC bar none. Besides you get what you pay for.

smera, 'Swatch Group' owns Omega...

BTW, my Omega SMP (model 2054.50.00) is no Benchmade! I've had 2 Rolexes and I like my SMP a LOT better!

Bulldawg, it's obvious that you, like a lot of people, have never seen a Sebenza. That's not your fault. You asked an honest question. It has as near to PERFECT fit and finish as you can find in a knife costing 3 times as much. It is EXTREMELY functional. Try to find one at a gun & knife show, preferably when you have around $350 on you...

Benchmade makes good, functional knives for the money, but they suffer the ills of many mass-manufactured products: blades not centered in the handles, very uneven edge grinds, questionable heat treatment. I have heard of many broken tips when a Benchmade falls to the ground - a sign of poor heat treatment. The bottom line is that if you like a certain model in Benchmade's extensive line, then I would suggest you look at the particular knife you want to buy before you purchase it and inspect it for defects. Believe me, I speek from experience.
Not that Benchmade won't stand behind their products; I heard that their customer service seems reasonable these days. BUT CUSTOMER SERVICE SHOULD NOT BE A CURE FOR POOR QA/INSPECTION!!!!! These are issues you just don't have to worry about when buying a CRK product. Chris Reeve knives are as close to perfection in manufacturing, hand finishing, and quality that you are likely to find anywhere, and you have got to expect to pay for this. In the very, very rare event that there is a problem with the knife, CRK service is second to none.
We on this forum believe in the products of Chris Reeve Knives because we believe that they represent a fair value for the money. They are expensive knives, but they deliver in terms of performance, superb quality and workmanship, and pride of ownership.

And that as they say is that!

Jki, as usual my friend you are spot on!

I had a nice close look at my BM750 and my Sebenza (large classic) the other day before dropping a Crawford Kasper into my leg.

The Sebi is better all round by a fair margin. Oh and I consider the 750 to be one of the best knives BM EVER made.

BTW it took 14 different 750's before I found an acceptable model  !

Looking in shops that is. I dread the thought of blind buying a Bum...Benchmade knife. With the Sebenza...ANY CRK that is not a fear!
