Hello everybody!
The knife fairy will probably bring me a spanking new shadow 3 because i've been a good man in the last months (and bribed the wife with a sunday of hardcore clothes shopping with a girlfriend)
This is the first CR fixed blade i have the privilege to own. i'm buying this knife for my summer hikes and i really like the pancake holster.

I would like to carry this knife more often and i know that here in oregon if it's not concealed it is legal to carry almost anything.
Does anyone EDC a shadow 3 or an Aviator? do you feel comfortable with it? does it raise eyebrows? how do you find the holster?

thanks

Good luck, hope that knife fairy brings you the Shadow III,...it's a great knife!
I generally have a Shadow IV or an Aviator on me as a last resort knife that never ever leaves my side in the wilderness. You will love the pancake sheath that it comes with....there very comfortable. Post pic's after the knife fairy drops one off!

I love the sheath that PiterM. made for my Shadow III (or is it a IV? I can't remember.)

thanks a lot for the replies. i'll post pictures for sure! I really love PiterM work... great job.....

I have just started using a Mountaineer I in the Shadow sheath for my bush knife.

I am torn between the two sheaths but the pancake design sits a bit higher and is easier in/out of vehicles. I think it is a bit more secure than the stock one for the Mountaineer I so I use it when I am out of doors.

They both carry quite well but I prefered the pancake style so I orded an 'extra' one for my Mounaineer I. Time will tell which I prefer but the pancake is so far the winner.

Hi all, yep the pan cake sheath is one of my favorites.
For a every day carry the shadow III is a great carry.
Take care,
Bryan

eheheh! the knife will be here in 12 hours max! i'm excited like a kid on Christmas Eve! OH JOY!!!!!

Bryan, i love your set up... i think i'll carry mine partially covered by a shirt. still visible for legal reasons but a little more discreet. i live in Portland OR. the place is ok and very liberal with knives but fixed blades still make people nervous...

i can't wait. a CR box is always a super special occasion!

I got it! i am sooo happy! the knife is simply amazing..... way better than i expected! i love the balance, the grind is perfect and the sheath works great....
I can't wait to go hiking this weekend and start using the knife.
the only thing i'd change it's the lenght of the handle. an inch more would make the knife better to grip without making the knife more uncomfortable to carry (in my opinion)
what a great knife!
here's a picture of my Shadow 3 getting to know his gun case mate.....

congrats!! that's super sweet! ....great pic, thanks for sharing:thumbup:
doesn't it feels great in hand ... perfect balance:thumbup:

I carry my Shadow III every chance I get. It is a nice size to EDC and the sheath doesn't scream tactical or hunter's knife. The knurled handle of the Shadow III makes it look like a screwdriver or tool when it is in the pancake sheath. I have medium sized hands so the handle is all right by me. I've loaded the handle with some tinder and flint for some emergency fire starting. Enjoy your new tool.
