I haven't dealt with them, but this looks like an awfully good deal.

Edit - these guys have a pretty bad rep for customer service.

I would estimate that more people have been taken, cheated, or otherwise screwed by Botach than by any other company - hands down. SureFire has discontinued their relationship with Botach, I'm sure due in no small part to their infamous customer service.

I have no doubt that many an unhappy customer will follow with their opinions as well. I would recommend against doing business with Botach. You can take your chances and of course not everyone has had problems, but I think everyone should be aware of the less than stellar reputation that Botach has before they purchase.

Search TGB&U before you order anything from Botach -- or search the whole web; you'll get thousands of hits and most of them seem to be consumer complaints.

I got mine from Botach. Botach is very simple. If it's in stock, buy it. If not, don't order it. They are very bad on communication.

Hank is right. Call first and confirm availability. Then, order over the internet. This is a tip someone over at TFL gave me, and I've used it ever since. Backorders with Botach are apparently tricky. I've had one, and they handled it expediently. Others have had much worse experiences, however.

I'm on my fifth or sixth order to Botach, and so far, so good. They promptly processed my last order, and I have a UPS tracking number. Should be here Monday.

I do get the feeling Botach is getting a little better as far as customer service. They have hired some new people, and I was surprised to get a response to an email inquiry on a Sunday recently. (They're closed on Sunday.)

I do order batteries from them every year. You just can't beat the prices.

I went against the crowds of people saying that Botach has terrible customer service and placed an order on the 13th of Feb. I received my Danner Patrol boots exactly 1 week later. I began to worry as teh boots arrived without the Ultrastinger or the CR123A 20 pack special. I sent them an email on Friday, and coincidentally the remainder of my order arrived while I was at work.
I think it was a good deal and the service was good. I did not pay extra for shipping, opting to use UPS Ground, so I'd say that the overall time for shipping was about right.

Well, yes and no.

Yes, they are bad on communications. They are so bad, in fact, that they will tell you that an item is in stock even when it's not. The "usual" horror stories about chargebacks, eternal backorders, missing items, etc. thus ensue.

If you're looking for a reasonable source for "123" lithium batteries, check www.cheapbatteries.com. You can find GE-Sanyo 123As for $2.50 each up to 12 batteries, $2.00 each over 12 to a quantity of 48. At quantities over 48, the price breaks again to $1.75.

You can also contact Z. Reiss, a camera and electronics shop, at www.zreiss.com. The main web page appears to require an account, but if you call their order phone number (1-800-943-2000 x212), the last time I checked they were still happily selling to the general public. IIRC, they were also selling 123A batteries at $1.79 in quantities over 24.

Sunnbatteries.com shows the GE-Sanyos for $22 for 12 batteries.

You do know that inside each 223 battery is two 123 batteries. Several folks over at Candlepowerforums.com have been buying 223s, carefully removing the plastic casing, and using the batteries inside with a wrap of masking or packing tape around them to insulate the metal shells. I haven't heard any complaints about this practice. If a 223 battery is $2-2.50, that would really bring the price down.

I've done pretty well with Botach, shipping time even with UPS ground isn't too bad since they're only the next state down... What's this about Surefire and Botach? They still have them on the web site, although they've been on sale for a while - are they clearing the last of them out or something? I've ordered most of my Sirefires from Botach(in fact I just got my E2 from them, it was on sale for $56, and from the looks of the web site still is). I've had a dozen orders in the past 1 1/2 years, and only had one out of stock item and one mess up that was fixed quickly. Maybe I'm just lucky, there's a truck at work that breaks down on everyone but me... Unfortunately my luck disappears when I take apart complex mechanical items - too many spare parts are left when re-assemebled!

Lets see,I got from botach 2 knives(the last one a mini emerson cqc7 for $71 bucks:D ),flashlights, photons, and a ton of batteries.Out of maybe 6-8 orders I had one mix up which they called me about and then shipped it next day air for FREE.Now I've read about their problems so I call in my order,if they got it, I got it within a few days.

UPS just delivered my Li CR123 order from Botach. I waited ~ 2 weeks to get them, but at $58 for 40 delivered to the door I'm happy.

I've ordered from them before and found them to be a little slow some times, but I've yet to have them not fill an order or honor their offered price (even if they filled the order after the sale was over).

I'm currently waiting for several pairs of the Royal Robins FBI pants. At $27 each I won't complain about a 2 week delivery time either considering wholesale is $24 each.

I do consider it to be good advice to check availability (they ran out of some sizes of Hi Tech boots that were too cheap to pass up before I got my order in) when you order from any online/catalogue source.

This is worth repeating in boldface:

...they will tell you that an item is in stock even when it's not. The "usual" horror stories about chargebacks, eternal backorders, missing items, etc. thus ensue....
