Crabbing in the Bay for Less Than Desirable Bucks

A couple bucks floating in the bay which are leaving me feeling grumpy. Both are limited edition in the effect that they have a commercial logo stamped on them. other than that they are basic, run of the mill folders, made of buck standard quality materials. Both are priced at the extreme far end of the "cheap knife" price. i know the bay has horrible prices and I get inflation.... I want 1 only because it is a model I collect and the other because the commercial branding is attached to another hobby.... both have been floating out there a while and evry time I see them they make me a little more frustrated because I refuse to pay what I feel is an overinflated price. It makes me think of the "louie" thread. its like these people just like to float things out in the wind and dont really care if they sell.

edit: omg... just check out one of the "other items" pages and not a single other knife... lol lots of jewelry and cartilage pills..💀
💀💀

Sounds like you don’t want them bad enough.

The seller puts it out there at a price that they want for it, if its more than you want to pay, then they want it more than you do.

Yea... you're not wrong. Just a different way of thinking I guess.

Keep them in your watch list. Maybe the seller will make a reasonable offer. Something you both can live with. After all nobody else is buying at those prices either.

Good luck. 👍🏻

I always check “seller’s other items too”, it can really give you a read on who you are dealing with. Sometimes a good laugh.

I hate knives with commercial stuff on it. Two exceptions: Harley Davidson and John Deere, neither from which I own any products.

To me, it depends on how ostentatious the billboarding is. In 2021, I scored what appeared to be an unused Leatherman Rebar with just a tiny bit of surface rust and the name of a financial services company laser engraved on it that you can barely notice for about half of what a new Rebar cost at the time. No problem on a multitool. I might feel differently if it were something like a Buck 119.

you guys are kind of making my argument... im looking specifically at a 525 Gent with the BN railroad logo and a 722 from a holster company Ive never heard of before.. i like it cause its green...lol nothing overly special about either... id love to have the BN one... just cant justify spending what the guy wants... no make an offer option on either

There is a difference between one made to sell with the logo on it. Or one with a logo added to give to employees or similar promotional use. For me at least.

You run into trouble when its a cross collectable. The railroad guys would be interested in that one too.

employee knives are cool, especially if you have a story to go with it...

its a great way for someone new to knives to score a few cheap users at a good price... better than those tsa grab bags that have been picked over and are full of junk.

I have had mixed success with contacting the seller and saying I would be a buyer at x dollars, if they would be willing to lower their buy it now price. It's worth and shot with nothing to lose.

The worst that can happen is that the seller tells you to get lost.

You can make an offer under "Contact Seller" option. Ebay allows this communication. If the seller is agreeable he just changes the listing for you.

I haven’t bought anything off the bay in several years. I might have to take a look.

In the past the Bucks I found were nothing special but just what I was looking for. Most of the ones I snagged were under $35.
