Crack in Bolster

I managed to give my M-43 a workout and it seems bulletproof. I performed the Uncle Bill whack test on both spine and sides, well as chopping and the previous flex test. At some point during the whack test, it developed a less than 1/4" crack at the bolster seam. It is right on the edge of where the seam was brazed. I whacked it some more and it stayed put. So, I have some questions. AND let me start by saying that this little darling ain't going back to Reno! So, for you old timers, is this indicative of bigger problems or is this exactly what it looks like? It appears to be a thin weld that gave under the shock of whacks that stung my palm. If that's it, I'm happy as a lark with it's performance. Should I try to have it re-brazed or epoxied? What do you think? The below photo is from a mobile, so it may show nothing except the bolster weld at the spine. If the crack isn't visible, let me say it's at the handle side and the brass is slightly lifted. Thanks for your help and take care.

A cracked bolster is typically no big deal:) Generally, the "front" of the bolster (bladeside) and "back" of the bolster (where you see the seam) are touching metal. The rest of it is filled with either handle material or laha.

Your khuk is just fine, IMHO. I would tap it back and epoxy or braise it like you said. Really, now that it has popped free and stretch a bit, you might be able to simply use a soldering gun to fill in the gaps. I dunno. Just a guess.

However, it should be good to go either way:)

Like they say: "I think it might be defective. You can send to me, if you like, for proper disposal..."

Sorry it took so long for a better photo, but thanks for the replies. Below is a close up shot of the crack. I'm not worried about it at all. The seam is very thin and I just pushed it back down with my thumb nail. I'll likely try to have a buddy braze or silver solder(sp?) it to be sure it doesn't snag on something. Thanks again guys. Take care and God bless.

Yes, not much to worry about at all. Soldering should be enough, followed by the "wack" test to put your mind completely at ease.
