cracked horn handle - ok to use w/o repairing?

First things first: hello to Khukman, Geraldo and K Williams!
K, a timely suggestion about the hoof dressing, but it's already too late for me - just found 1/2 inch crack radiating from the guard to the rear.
Can I continue to use it without repairing it - is this just a cosmetic issue? Or will hard use cause it to spread?
It's my fault, I went out in 20 degree weather and came back in to a warm house. The next day I had a crack!
If I need to repair it, how? Will superglue do the trick?
 
I have seen cracks that did not continued with more use and a few that did. For the time required it would be better to fix the crack with Superglue. Superglue should work well for small hairline cracks. Do a search on handle repair and superglue there are quite a few post about it.
