Hey Guys!
I recently had a ivory handle dry out and crack on a finished bowie. It is really dry in my house and I meant to rub some oil on it and then forgot to do it. Needless to say I was horrified when I picked it up and there were two cracks running the length of the piece.
I vaguely remeber a post about soaking ivory in mineral oil for a few days after it is freshly worked to restore the oil in the ivory. Am I remebering the post correctly? I finished the rplacement handle this evening and can't afford to loose another ivory handle! Thanks!
