Do all the blades look correct?
The left blade looks like a different material

The Sears #9470 was an Ulster 98 and sold from 1959 - 1978. It looks to me from the picture that the blade and bolster were dipped in something caustic that etched them. Do you see any indication of such on the liners or springs?

something caustic that etched them
Interesting Codger
THERE are some initials on the bolsters
It doesn't look engraved
Maybe the guy "etched" his initials in it
The initials are "R L"
You can see the L in the pic
After looking at it more closely I think the one blade is a replacement
It is more of a silver color than gray color like the other ones

I don't see any other caustic marks (at least not to my n00by eye...The bolsters look grayish)

I bought a new fluorescent bulb and it's giving a yellowish light color :grumpy:
I gotta go find a more whitish one tomorrow...........

TR, here are pics of a 9470 in near mint condition for comparison. i agree with Codger, one end of your knife has been exposed to a substance that has reacted with the metal.
3rd pic shows S/W Marlin spike (and Buck 825). roland
