Anyone have the link to the Craftsman knives catalogs/ads?
What is the jig pattern called?
What is the handle material?
Any info greatly appreciated
Is it made by Schrade you think?
It measures 2 3/4" when closed
I like it because it is so small.....

My research indicates that the Sears # 9473 is an Ulster 89 and they were shipped from 1959 thru 1977. I suppose a few from 1959 might be some other plastic or even possibly bone (doubtful but possible), those made from 1960 forward would be Delrin. According to DuPont, the factory in Parkersburg, West Virginia opened and began large scale production in 1960.

Yes, it is a Schrade product made on the Ulster frame in the same plant on the same assembly lines by the same workers as made Schrade knives.

PS- To my knowledge, no one has made a concentrated effort to obtain Sears catalogs and survey them for knives. Contacting Sears does not help, as they have no corporate memory. I joined a Craftsman Tool Collector's site but they don't consider knives to be tools.

Oh, and in case you are wondering, Delrin is DuPont's trade name for Polyoxymethylene, (POM), with the chemical formula -(-O-CH2-)n-.

I just thought you would want to know. :D

I don't know if there are many colleges around you but Sears has some colleges that they have supplied with the catalogues on microfish.Trinitry here in San Antonio has a copy but it is not handicap friendly so I can't access them.If you dig around on the Sears site it will give you a list.Arnold
