It seems that I can not find much on the Forum Search about the approximate dates of Schrade-Walden's Craftsman's Markings/Stamps. I hoping to find some information. Can anyone answer the following:

Stampings/Markings ................. Dates of Use

JC Wiggins .........................

Craftsman Blade Etchings ......

Ted Williams ........................

Craftsman Tang Stamp ..........

Any help would be much appreciated.

Stampings/Markings ................. Dates of Use

No authoratative source exists yet to my knowledge.

JC Wiggins .........................

The J.C. Higgins mark was used for many, many years on other Sears sporting items before it began being used on knives. Usage predates the Ted WIlliams mark by a few years, and was used along side it for a few years.

Craftsman Blade Etchings ......

The earliest use of the Craftsman mark on a blade etch that I have seen so far is circa 1941.

Ted Williams ........................

Teddy Ballgame came on board with Sears circa 1961. His signature mark began being used shortly thereafter and up into the early to mid 1970's.

Craftsman Tang Stamp ..........

Later than you might think. Mid to late sixties though I haven't tried to specifically pin it down yet.

Michael,

Thanks, again for the information. After further research, I found this in Wikipedia.

From 1908 until 1961, Sears, Roebuck & Company sold a wide variety of sporting goods and recreational equipment, including bicycles, rifles and shotguns, under the brand name "J. C. Higgins."

Thanks,

Jackie
