Codger; you are the resident expert on Craftsman. Please check out what I just snagged on ebay. Item number 6620397822. It's supposed to be MIB and the picture sure looked good so I hope it comes in that way.

Appearance, lock, and materials match the old 204S Schrade knife. I last see it listed in 1975, but Schrade was known for reviving older patterns for SFOs, especially for Sears. The 95237 five digit Sears code suggests that it was marketed in the '80s or later. The 204 pattern was offered in 1953 with cocobolo handles, and references an even older pattern number, C2041SD, which acording to the 1926-38 catalogs decodes thus:
C= Cocobolo
2= a 2 blade knife
04= pattern or style of knife
1= Cocobolo handle
SD= Screwdriver blade with wire stripper
Other patterns had ebony handles, "bone stag" and celluloid. Some (like yours and the pattern shown) had a shackle, and some had a fob chain. It says something for a knife pattern that it survives more than sixty years!

Your number is on my list of unconfirmed Sears/Schrade sfo's. Perhaps your paperwork and box will confirm it. I looks like you got an excellent deal on a knife in mint or near mint condition! Congrats!

Codger; I'll copy whatever paper work there is and send it to you.

Were any of these made with wood other than cocobolo. If not then I know better the age of the one I have... S204 on reverse of clip blade tang stamped Schrade Walden NY USA on the front. Also has the key fob on it. It is the only one I've seen and is in very good shape.
