Craftsman Table Saw part?

Hey gang,

My father in law gave me an old Craftsman table saw. Looks good to go except for it lacks the washer (If that is the right term) that sits beside the blade on the bolt. I tried using a locking washer, but it did not work. Does anyone know what the original part looked like or is called? I heard from someone that they were originally a "u shaped spacer." Ring any bells? Thanks in advance!

It is a rather thick washer ~3mm. It is counter bored on the side that sits against the blade. Counter bored basically means it is hollowed out a little on that side so the contact is more even around the outside diameter near the edge of the washer.
It is a good idea that any washer you get has a hole in it that is very close to the size of the threaded mandrel that the blade fits onto.

I'll try to find a photo on line.
