This is a CB Damascus head that I reprofiled and then applied a mustard finish. Not the best pictures and my last pass of Thai hot sauce left a little staining, but this is my go-to beater so I'm not concerned about it. I don't remember where I got the handle, but it's a nice straight grain and there is a bit of a swell at the end of the handle that I really like. Enough to give a good purchase when chopping, not too much to hamper throwing.

Craig Barr does great work and the price is more than fair, but I never liked the shape of his hawk heads. After reshaping it though it's one of my favorites. I probably would have left it alone finish-wise, but where I took off material it naturally took off the etching as well, obscuring the Damascus pattern. The mustard/hot sauce brought it all back to a consistent finish. It was so easy and got such good results, it's got me looking around for other non-stainless stuff to give the mustard treatment!

Hello rlcanon,
You can use ferric chloride to etch back to probably what he may have used most use it on pattern weld steels , you can get from radio shack i think .
