Once again, Craig comes through in fine fashion. I asked for a no frills kick ass camp knife, and I think he exceeded anything I had in mind. The design is slightly different from what I had in mind, but this time Craig outdid my idea. Blade is a bit over 10.5" from tip to front of micarta slabs. Full tapered and skeletonized tang, with stainless bolts and lined thong hole. Forged W2 steel. No fancy finish, no swedge. Just a great knife with superb balance. This baby will balance on the edge of my finger, just in front of the micarta. Very quick and light for such a big knife(the handle is a full 6" long).

Craig said he tested this one on some Hedge logs, and my guess is, wood don't get too much tougher than that. Craig said the blade easily passed the brass rod edge flex test. My own testing proved that he nailed the heat treat, as I chopped lots of small branches this weekend at the Duncan Hammer In, and the knife still shaves hair off my arm!

Dang! That is SUWHEEET! Did you have this bad boy up in Janesville? I know I didn't see this one. Please make sure I get to fondle this one if and before you ever decide to sell it. Now go get back to shavin' your arms ya hairy bastid! ;)

Mongo, I just got this one Saturday at the Hammer In at Ron Duncan's place. While you were cavity searching poodles, me and a bunch of guys were beating on some steel. ;) :)

Don't worry, Mongo. This one is staying with me.

You described it well Dan!

Craig did a bang-up job on it... it's got all the right proportions to look great and be mean as well! :D

Great job Craig! :)

That blade is only 1.5" wide, so I imagine that helps with the quickness. All I know is, finger diameter branches fly off with just a flick of the wrist. :)

That camp knife is quick as a whip...very effective. I got to handle it a bit
this past week end.
Congrats to Craig, and Danbo.

........Bando must be your alterego???

Hey with Dons description I know exactly who Bando is! :)

I'm glad you all liked the design. I have been making and testing some different designs for a good chopping and cutting large using knife and this is getting very close to what I am looking for design wise. It cuts and slices well and still has plenty of chopping action if you snap your wrist when chopping.

And you make cavity searching poodles sound like a bad thing? :p ;)
