Criminey, there's the start of having to sharpen it and say goodbye to my pristine factory edge.

Now I'll certainly get it AS sharp and maybe MORE sharp when I sharpen it, but phooey.

I cut a stem of a wisteria.

Why can't I learn? Dang.

:confused::rolleyes:

I always try to use a brand new knife quickly to get that out of the way!

Now you have a better reason (if you need one) to buy another new knife. Then use that one and start again.

It was only a push cut on a small portion of the edge. No sawing or slicing. One should wait at least a year before doing something stupid like opening a (oh I can't even say it.... oh hell....) CARDBOARD BOX!
There! I said it. My knife sorta cringed in my pocket. I meant to put it in the other room before typing that.

Too bad there isn't a SAK with nothing BUT blades. Then we could cut a buncha times and still have ONE unused one.

Sayyyyy.....hmmmm.....

Agree. I normally use a new knife within a week for sure and often the first day. That way I won't feel bad when I need it to cut something more serious.

I can't wait to use a knife when I get it. If it was shipped to me in a box the box ends up getting shredded.

Cut the box up that it shipped in. A the greatest beauty of a knife is it's function in my opinion.

What's the point of buying a nice knife if you're going to wreck it by cutting something!? Oh well just toss it and get a new one.

I thought this was a joke at first lol. I don't carry the knives I wouldn't want to cut something with. If they get carried they get used for sure. I did cringe a little when I need to cut a tin can open and the only thing I had on my was my ZT0350 that was only a week or 2 old and up to that point had only cut open some taped up boxes. It rolled the edge a little and took forever to fix on my sharpmaker but now it's sharper than the factory edge.

Now you learning, knives are used to cut with, not to stare at and flip all day (balisongs excluded).

First thing I do is cut up the cardboard box the knife was delivered in. I look for a reason to resharpen my knives.

Hooray! Your knife lost it's virginity!

Now just watch, it's gonna become a dirty, filthy little knife-slut and want to do nothing but cut stuff all day. It'll unfold it's blade for any cutting task that comes around. :D

GASP! Shhhh! I don't want my EDC knives to know that I think of them that way! I like to tell them they're classy and that I use them all the time because I like their company.
