Crash Axe question

I received my Crash Axe a while back and it came with the spike part unsharpened. From some photos here and there I've seen that others have sharpened that part of theirs. What are the pros and cons for sharpening it or leaving it unsharpened? What do others use this part for that they need to sharpen it or leave it unsharpened. Any and all opinions welcome as I haven't decided what to do with mine yet.

My guess would be that the spike isn't for shaving but for brutal penetration therefore it is left a bit thick for strength.
 
yeh it is made for breaching I think like an lmax (which doesnt have the spike part sharpened either)
 
Yeah that's about what I thought. But what purpose would sharpening it serve - surely that would weaken the spike? So what's the up side to sharpening it?
 
If it's sharp it looks more deadly.

In my opinion it probably makes it more likely to pierce your own skin.
 
Maybe if you're using it as a thrower you get more sticks with the spike sharpened. :confused:
