Just called New Graham and ordered a LW Paul Defender in coco bola and have a Crawford Falcon comming, all ti. I have wanted a style of the CS Caledonian for quite sometime and just couldn't pull the trigger with a knife costing that much. I have a Rhino and a Hatamoto that are worth well what I paid for them but it was no where's near retail nor no where's near the price of the Caledonian. No one would budge on its price either.

So be that as it may, I opted for the LW Paul knife in coco bola. Similar in style to the CS and maybe a bit fancier/classier type of knife, a gentleman's tactical which made my o'lady kind of laugh. It has presentation grade wood with hand checkering. 4" full flat ground 154cm and some kind of disc opening system that I am not familiar with at all. It is of open frame design. Tip down only carry as is the Falcon but can live with that. The Falcon shall be more of a collection piece and the LW a user.

Anyways just thought I would share a bit of my good fortune. The crave has been fullfilled for the stiletto style of knife in the LW so I am a happy camper. Will post pics when they arrive. keepem sharp

The Paul Defender has a nice looking handle, how does the lock work? Do you push a button and then swing it open?

Beats me, but I'll find out probably on Sat when it arrives. I'll let you know, keepem sharp

Saw that Crawford Falcon, and had I had the money, I would have already bought it! Had one before and it is a really neat, well thought out design. Don't know if you have had Crawford knife before, but he builds it solid and heavy duty. I know you like the heavy duty type knives like I do, and you should love this one! If not, give me a holler!

Cool beans- I just got a Point Guard on this forum- will be my first Crawford folder, to compliment my Survival Staff that I am rarely without.

Just rec. the LW Defender. Thanks NG for prompt shipping. Knife is a word gorgeous. A very different type of opening sequence but I guess once you get used to it it would work ok. Definetly not used to it but may get used to it then again I probably could just as well end up throwing the knife behind me when executing the move under pressure. Lock up is tight, flawlessly made and razor sharp, just the opening sequence kind of is different. Kind of bummed really. Anyways that's it. keepem sharp

Longbow, thanks for the good words. Give the PAUL locking system a fair try. I have come to appreciate the PAUL and with practice, it has proven a good design.

Yep was kind of playing with it alot yesterday. A couple of problems I see personally with it for me at least is that the handle will bounce back so the blade doesn't lock open on the first try and you have to make sure manually it does so. By whatever means to do so. That and mine has developed the slightest amount of blade play up and down and am not sure at all how to fix it?

The knife is gorgeous to look at though. The coco bola scales really set it apart from my collection. The tip is needle sharp and pierces extremely easily, more so even than my Ti Lite, which truth be told for the 35 bucks I spent on it, seems to be everything the Defender should be in a stiletto type of knife. The knife is going to go back to NG on Mon. I have seen a Seki Lum Encounter with VG10 damascus I am going to pick up instead and down the road a CS Caledonian, which is what I should have scored me thinks in the first place. keepem sharp
