I believe it was a Spyderco Endura.

The real story: police saw a man pulling out a knife to cut a salami roll. They immediately recognized the knife as a counterfeit Spyderco Endura, and shot the man on principle.

Moral of the story: don't buy fakes.

Sadly they start with words like "knifeman" that links the knife to the the psycho . This type of media vilification of knives is bad.

This does NOT look good for the knife community in New York. And New York's tight Knife laws do not help much either. People may start wrongly associating the knife with evil.

Of course the media spins it to look like the knife committed a crime. And especially because it's New York. Frankly I'm more irritated that the knife is a Spyderco than anything.... coulda picked out a gas station cheapy to commit acts of violence with.

He pulled out a knife, injured a woman, and then approached police with the knife out, while the police had guns drawn and were telling him to stop and put the knife down.

He then died of natural causes. You attack a police officer with his gun drawn with a knife and you die, naturally.

I like how the news reports list the knife as "an 8 inch knife".

It gives all us law abiding spyderco guys a bad name. Here , in Greece , People are pretty tolerant towards any kind of knife , as long as you don't improperly Wave it around in Public.

This is the first time I recall someone being called a knifeman, much less a "Crazed" knifeman . He was sane enough to buy a Spyderco knife and not some cheap " Saturday Night Special Knife "

so what I should understand is : having a knife = been a ''knifeman'' = been potentially crazed and dangerous. the oligarchs are stepping up their game from firearms to knives eh.... with Obama And the Pope(Caesar) having publicly signed agenda 21 for a world government by 2030, if they have their way, we will end up in a world divided in the 33 districts of the UN flag and imposed a full on police state in the name of «peace and poverty abolishment»

Lance,

It seems E4 SG like what I have. What about it particularly that makes it seems to be fake?

I'm not really sure, something just looked a bit off with the handle, but its such a low res photo its hard to tell. They do look like rivet heads instead of torx screws though.

Spyderco still makes that Endura model with a 3.75" flat saber-ground SpyderEdge VG-10 blade, FRN handle and screw construction. I have that exact model from 2007. They're a good, durable and inexpensive (<$70) big folder. Overall length is 8.75".

Is that a Spyderco?
Definitely looks like an Endura 4. Impossible to say for certain whether or not it's a genuine Spyderco. In NYC, between street vendors and Chinatown, a counterfeit of just about anything is certainly a possibility.
