Craziest way you've ever financed a knife?

Well, in the last month or two, I've sold off two knives to finance two other knives. That doesn't seem too wild to me. I'm sure you guys can do better.

What's the weirdest thing that you've sold off to purchase a knife?

I've definitely sold off a few knives in my collection before to fund new ones, but I imagine that's very common on BF.

Craziest thing I've ever sold off for a purchase was probably a telescope lens/viewfinder that I found at work. I waited almost a year for someone to come around asking for it, but they never showed up. I had absolutely no use for it, so I ended up selling it on the Bay for almost $200, that was a great knife buying day for me :D

I have put myself through paid experiments and used the money to buy knives. I did not have to eat anything or try any new drugs; the experiments only involved responding to a computer "game."

The pay ranged from 20 bucks to 70 bucks and no experiment was over two hours long (most were an hour).

If anyone wants to know, the experiments were about economic responses, and we would be paid on our performance.

(I know it would be a lot cooler if they were male pregnancy experiments;))

Nothing, ever. If I don't have enough disposable income to cover it, I don't buy it. A little lesson I learned the hard way, and the reason I have zero debt.

There is no justification for ever financing a knife. Knives are the ultimate indulgence, as spending well under $50 will almost always get the job done (the hard use guys can buy a hatchet or hand saw). That being said, I don't considering selling a knife to buy another to be 'financing.' That's only clearing out clutter and sticking to budget.

I have a great knife store with a free layawy, I have used it often. They handle BR and several other brands. That is the only way this retired guy can buy Barkies. Trouble is, they don't stock the Bravo ll.

When I bought a Chopweiler, I didn't have the funds so I put it on a CC. I hate buying things on credit, but I had heard so many great things about Swamp Rat Knives that I decided to make an exception.

I'm happy to report I've never bought a knife on credit. I tend to only buy knives when I sell others, but sometimes I through some cash at what appear to be a good deal.

cash only here, with the amount of knives I have I really don't need more, well need no, want yes, so I pick one up every so often, I have had maybe 4 diffrent collections in my life and got bored with them and just gave most away, now I only by what I intend to wear out! unless they have been gifted to me or I use them, I don't have them anymore.

Saved all my dimes for about three years , and bought a Becker Necker.

+1

Although one day I hope to find a 18 y.o. sugar momma with big boobies and a bigger trust fund who will let me pay off my knife purchases with sex.
