I got my Crazy Crow magazine today..wowweee!! Lots of neat stuff...knives, handles, leather supplies, beads. I am planning on making something as soon as I pay Uncle for my lil "Jewel".

I am thinking about sprucing up my sheath that I made for my 18" AK with some beads or something  Right now the sheath is a user...do yall have any ideas?

Yvsa,
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction...have any ideas? :)

You're welcome.:)
Just remember that if you do any beadwork that it needs to be done on soft deer or elk skin and the needle and thread goes only halfway through the skin. I do not do beadwork!!!!:D

On second thought. SOme of the pewter or german silver trinkets might look alright on a khukuri scabbard, just never thought of it before.
Dave you may have unleashed some kind of beast within if I get to thinkin' to awful much.;)

I dont know about the beadchuck thing, it is gonna be a long while before I know what I am doing. I am thinking about buying a book on NDN beadwork from Crazy Crow along with one on NDN flutes.

I guess I should save and get everything at once, bead stuff, and flute stuff. Their knife stuff, although neat, can wait... I got more kuks than I can shake a stick at! (And no you cannot take some from me!) :p

Dave I would go ahead and get one or two of the laminated steel blades if you can afford them at all and at least a single guard for each of them. It takes little care to maintain them and knives one day may not be so readily availible.
At least you would have the means to make yourself a couple of very worthwhile knives that would last a mighty long time with reasonable care.
You can use about any kind of hard wood for a handle.
And IMO there's not any steel much finer than the laminated blades from the Northland!!!!
Besides, they're pretty cheap.;)

I have one boughten blade only, a double edged dagger that is basically good for only killing things. It doesn't have enough belly on either side to make a good skinner, although I guess it could be used as such if needed.
One of these days I may pass it on to a younger more energetic man than myself, but I bought it just in case.:)

YVSA,
anything you suggest?
I had one of those double edged Hudson Bay Dagger kits in mind, that broad double edge looked cool to me. Maybe some of those clip point Solingen carbon steel "Norwegian Styled" blades too, great workers.

I am still amaized at how cheap it is to make your own stuff.

Also, what do you mean by "laminated steel"?? I know AUS-6, ATS-34, etc. But what exactly is "laminated"?

Dave, I know where you can get an untra light kit and make your own airplane. Let me know when you are ready for this project.

Uncle,
If I am going to make a plane I am going to make myself a A-10 Warthog. 30mm cannon and Uranium depleted ammo might be hard to come by...but on this forum someone knows something about where to find anything.:)

By the way, I just got the Jewel...but that is another thread! :D

Dave I bought a blade only Hudson Bay Dagger and it's cheap India crap, not worth having.:barf:

The laminated blades are those so advertised. I think they come from Norway or similar northern country.
These are the same blades that many Norweigian, Swedish, etc knifemakers use and then mark up to outrageous prices.
One of the blades in this series is too small and thin to be laminated and it tells you that in the catalog.

"Maybe some of those clip point Solingen carbon steel "Norwegian Styled" blades too, great workers."

Dave I think these may be made out of stainless. The other ones advertised as carbon steel are the ones you want.
They are laminated with a hard piece of steel sandwiched between two pieces of softer steel. Now these make Great Users.:)

If I had a new catalog we could get right down to the nitty gritty with page numbers and locations, but there's no telling what changes CCTP has made.

I've been thinking about doing some beading... afterall, my new 5 year old friend loves it when I bead her little turtles and lady bugs :)

I took a look at the Crazy Crow site... those discontinued human skull beads look very... uhm... interesting :D Put a few off of the frog on a Malla and it would add to the intimidation factor!!!

I wish I could see more on the site though. I guess I'll have to send in the four bucks for a catalog to see the knife blades.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Alan

Last I knew a license was not required for ultra light flight. I don't know about today. I've never flown one but it wouldn't bother me to hop on one and give it a try.
