Crazy? nuts? a HI sickle?

I just imagine the kamis in Nepal getting the request from Yangdu.
"Are these Americans crazy? They don't just want kukris, farmcatas and spearheads they want sickles?"
"What can I say? Maybe no one there knows how to make a good sickle?"
"But it's not like it's anything special! Everyone makes sickles!"
"Maybe they all watched too much TV and forgot?"
*cue lack of laughter at bad joke and bemused stares*

More seriously, I don't see the point. Nowadays we use scythes for a reason and a sickle is hardly as prominent tool, but if you have the money for it, go ahead. I can imagine less-well-spent purchases.

The HI Hasiya:

Another version from HI, I think that Howard Wallace has one:

I read on another site that those are actually what many people carry and use in parts of Nepal. Probably small ones, anyway. It seems khuks are not legal to carry in some larger cities. I have a mini Hasiya from Auntie which I use as a letter opener. It is pretty dang handy in it's little carrier, which seems to be designed to carry around the neck. Howard could probably provide some information on this. I found a pic of mine.

Steve's picture is either mine or very similar. I'm away from the tool right now. It is quite handy.

Oh yeah, the HI Hasiyah IIRC. Bit thicker than I prefer for a brush cutting tool, but it's a strong sucker, and mine is blessed with a walnut handle from Uncle Pala.

Of all my user HI's, the Hasiya probably is one of the most used. Every fall I must do battle with the dreaded (and dead) razor sharp zebra grass in my back yard. Every year I emerge bloodied if victorious thanks to my Hasiya. Great little do-it-all yardwork knife.
