Heres a few videos for ya.

This is our youngest dog, a red dach, named Bean.
He's an AKC pedigreed Dachshund, the one i mentioned in another thread that was originally bought for our son in florida, but quickly got too large to fly down there the way we wished him to. His favorite game is playing ball.
he'll make you throw a tennis ball until your ams fall off, morning noon and night. i made the mistake of introducing him to my laser pointer, but at least i dont have to throw that darn ball a billion times a night. The second night i played with the laser pointer with him he got so dizzy he fell over onto Oscar the cat, an older, rescue we took in when his elderly owner walked west.
Oscar was too close because he was trying to play with the pointer too.
The other two dogs you see in these vids are the other registerd dachshund, a dapple named Marbles and a dach/chihuaua/beagle named Addy the daughter of my 16 yr old little sweetie a dach/chihuaua mix, named Cassidy. Bean even bumps his head on the chair trying to catch that darn dot.....Lmao.

Just click on the pics to view.

Bean? I call my bean-shaped dog too!

That laser-chasing is funny. I always wonder what they're thinking when they see that spot!

My daughter in law who was in the MVA last weekend named him Beaner Weiner when we thought he was gonna be hers, the wife and i started calling him that from the minute we got home with him. It didnt seem right to go and change it on him when we ended up keeping him. His registered name is SC Cosmo's Bean. Although his nicknime is "Potamus"...if you saw him you'd swear they threw a hippopotamus gene in on him somewhere. we call Marbles "groaney Boney" because he's a lover and usually when you pet him he'll groan at you to tell you it feels good.

As for what he and Marbles think when theyre chasing that dot? Marbles can't see so well, it's a problem that Dapple dach's can inherit through their breeding. but when he chases it, it's playtime, he treats it like the toy it is. He only really plays with it when it's on the blankets and such, or on his butt, pretty funny to see a dachshund try to bite his own rear end.
Bean on the other hand treats in like an Alien being....one he's determined to catch and mess up good... i think it annoys him. He'll run through your legs, run over the cats and run into stuff trying to catch that thing.

That's hilarious, Karda. My yeller lab chases laser dots too. It's a little more destructive to the environment when she does it cause she weighs 80 lbs.

Karda, I'm not so sure it's the weinerdog that's Crazy.;) :p

When I was just a wee lad my old man got our first dog, a Dachshund, that he named Fritz. Fritz was a sure nuff handful at times and especially when it came to skunks, Fritz hated skunks with a passion beyond belief! But he was a smart little guy when it came to the old man's guns. The old man could bring either the 30-30 Winchester or the .410 out of the closet like he was going hunting with one of them and Fritz would go hide, but if he brought out the little .22 bolt action Fritz was already to go. The best we could ever figure was that Fritz didn't like the loud report of the bigger guns.;) :)

I've noticed that too with ours, the first few times the deer hunters in our area started shooting , they'd run and hide in my bed. Once i showed them theres nothing to fear, they mostly ignore it after the first day or so.
I havent hunted in a few years, due to most of my firearms being burglarized/ stolen. But if i did, i probably wouldnt be taking these lap dogs with me....LOL.

Same here ...a happy kind of being bonkers; living next to the ocean would mean just feeding their remains to the fish.

Gotta remember that the Daxhund was breed to hunt and even kill Badgers down in their lairs. As well, they were/are used for hunting Roe Deer in Germany. They are true hunting hounds if you get the right lines.

Yeah, i read about what they were bred for awhile back...and it simply amazed me. In fact, the one in the videos, Bean, is exceptionally strong. He looks like a big butterball, but i guarantee you that he is 99 percent muscle. in a game of tug of war with him you really havta plant yourself and use both hands or he'll drag you off your seat or rip his toy outta your hands in a matter of seconds. When our old cat, Oscar gets uppity with him and tries to claw the hell outta him for getting too close, Bean doesnt even flinch or back down, instead he rushes in and tries to grab that cat...and by then i'm already breaking it up for fear of losing the cat. He and Marbles come from great lineage, but they are far to pampered and domesticated to be worried about hunting. OTOH i will pity the poor soul who tries to burglarize our house. These guys are great watchdogs and He will likely get his legs amputated up to the knee.
